*********This week was a great week....my mom finally came home from the hospital and she was feeling well enough to go to her own home!  She will still have to go the doctor twice a week for injections, but they are making her stronger and able to fight infections better so it is worth it!  May you all have a great week!

Another Raw Edge Quilt

Just getting started on another raw edge quilt or most quilters call it, a postage stamp quilt.  My raw edge quilts are made up of 4 smaller squares that I combine into one larger square.  I do it this way because it is a lot easier for me to work on smaller peices of linen.  I mark my squares with a blue water soluble line and then cut out fabrics to place on the linen in the design I choose.  I then glue them onto the top, I use linen.  My next step is to sew the peices to the linen and then I add buttons, beads, embroidery, etc.    If you look close, I bet you will recognize some of your favorite fabrics.

If you look close, I added my name into the one above.

Close up of blocks above:

Stay tuned for the next step.  Next week I am working on sewing all of them down to top.  I usually do the embellishemnts to the tops before putting the batting and the backing on.

Below is my last raw edge quilt,  check out that post here!

As you can see, this one was much more linear.
The one I am working on now is more abstract.

So far we have lost a total of 6.6 lbs this week (gained 0 lbs) for a total of 480.8 lbs in 52 weeks/ one year!

Just let me say how much I appreciate all the support my friends, family and blogging friends have given me over the last year.  I have to thank my husband more than anyone, he has done this with me so we can have a better life together as we grow older. To all who question whether or not they can do this, it just takes a lot of patience and time.  Kevin and I still have a lot of weight to lose, so check back in one year from now and see how we are doing!  Your support is very much appreciated!

Bloggers Quilt Festival ~ My Snowball Quilt

This had to be my favorite quilt out of all the quilts I made this year.  Not to mention meeting Kaffe Fassett and taking a class with him and Lucy Prior.  Very fun and learned a great deal about color.

This is the only quilt I made this year that is completely hand quilted by me!
I just love it!

For more close up pictures of this quilt at my original
post, GO HERE!

I just love the border!!

A PINK quilt for my Aunt Beth

On my design wall now....a pink quilt for my Aunt Beth who just had surgery on Monday for breast cancer.  I decided to make her a quilt in honor of her struggle but did not want it to be too much of a reminder of her breast cancer.  I added just enough ribbon and breast cancer fabrics to make my point but it is mainly PINK.  The background is a light pink KONA.  The pattern is going to be stacked coins and it will be a lap quilt.  It's a surprise MOLLY (her daughter, my cousin) so don't tell her!!!!

This is me last week!  25 lbs lighter!
I can tell! Yippie!!

Meanwhile, say a prayer for my mom.  She still has not made it home from rehab since being hospitalized in March.  She was supposed to be discharged on Sunday but now she is back in the hospital again.  She is neutrapenic (low Neutrophil count) and a low WBC of 0.98!  Basically not compatible with life.

Home at last

Hi everyone, just got back from my conference in St. Louis and met lots of great people.  It was a long 5 days but filled of wonderful ideas for making out unit more family friendly.  The conference was given by IPFCC or The Institute for Patient and Family Centered Care.

Union Station St. Louis Marriott

Yep!  Pinning a quilt while at the conference!
You caught me!

It was Sunday and I arrived at 10:30 am and registration wasn't until 4pm.  After lunch I went to the front desk to ask for a large table and the set me up in the closed dining room.  What a great beautiful space to pin my quilt!  I quilted every night after the conference.  I had busy days followed by relaxing nights by myself.  It was wonderful and resting.  This one is being hand quilted so you won't see it for a while.  Maybe I will share once I quilt one square.

******This week was a great weight loss week for both Kevin and I. Right now I am St. louis at a Patient and Family Centered Care Conference. It is just wonderful. BUT, because I am posting by my iPad I can't figure out how to edit my post with everyone's weight change. I copied and pasted but can't scroll up to fix it above. I promise when I get home tomorrow I will update my post with mine and everyone elses changes! Have a great week everyone.

*******Update:  I changed the totals when I got back from my trip.  A few ladies have gained some weight back so I changed thier totals, however I applaud them for letting me and sticking to it.
