Dear Jane J10 Chieko's Calla Lily

the above is scanned
above is a photo....which looks best, scanned or photo?

I just finished my 10th block.  This one is right out of the book.  So far I have 110 pieces in these 10 blocks. I am going to keep track of them.  In the original quilt there were 5,602 pieces.  I am keeping track on an excel spreadsheet....I wonder how Jane kept track!  She had embroidered her total count on her quilt!   I get my inspiration from a wonderful blog called "That quilt".  I decided to do the same one she had online on Friday!  Thanks to Anina for all her hard work on the Dear Janes.  It make it easier for all of us!

I like the photographed one better, is that one true-r to the colors of your fabrics?
I have been following the *That Quilt* blog for awhile too!
I ordered my background fabric yesterday, I think I am going to try to do both pink and a red-white-blue DJ... :o)

I like the scanned photo better. I like how you can see the details better.

Interesting, Stephanie. I have found that my blocks come out better photographed than scanned. There are probably some settings that I could change in the scanner software to make it come out better, but the photos are easier. Just have to be more careful to take the photos head on, rather than on a slant. It probably doesn't matter, but yours is a little off. Also, I can't tell which one of yours is true to color, so I can't really say which one is better!

Very nice block. As for which looks better......it's hard to answer as I don't know which one looks closest in color to your fabric.

Interesting to see the difference of how they show up. I like both pinks...whichever is the true one. Nice work, by the way. Have fun keeping track of your blocks. The quilt will be wonderful.

You have taken on 'that quilt', wow. I am always impressed when I see these. I like your photo BTW. Prettier colors, seams don't seem as harsh.
Another great block Steph...I like the one that has been photographed.
I like the photo - but I LOVE the quilt! It's gonna be gorgeous!

The scanned photo shows more of a rosey color and the actual photo shows more pink. I like the photo version best. I can't believe how many pieces you are into already! Great idea to track with a spreadsheet. I can't imagine the final count.

I think whichever is the closest to the actual colour of it, but for eye candy value, I'm thinking the photo is much better. Great work. Hugs Naomi

Personally I like the shade of pink from the photograph, but the concept of scanning a block instead of taking a photo is very cool. Which one is closer to the real colors?

A Handmade Dear Jane, kudos to you on your ten so far!

I am scanning my blocks, so they all come out the same size. Otherwise, it is subject to how far away I held my camera, and they don't look as good all together in one setting. You are doing a wonderful job with the blocks. I hope I get to making some more blocks soon.
