Quilt Festival 2009
Here is the quilt I wanted to showcase during the Blogger's Quilt Festival. This quilt was made for my niece Linsday's birthday. I wanted to make a quilt that focused on her love of horses. I used a children's story book to create the horses. The rest of the quilt I designed myself. All the different blocks include a barn, hill with sheep, straw shed, jumping post, boot, 3 horses, blue ribbon and horse trailer with her name on it. Once I had all the blocks done, since they were all different sizes, I had to throw strips of fabric between them to try to make the quilt fit all the pieces. Then I cut many 3"x3" sqaures for the border of matching fabric. It was fun to make and Lindsay loved it.
Go the Park City Girl and join in the fun! It will be a blast. This is my first time so I hope I meet everyone's expectations! Thanks for allowing me to share my love of quilting with others who love it too!

This was her puppy at the time. I am so glad I included this puppy Libby into this quilt. Shortly after the quilt was given to Lindsay, the puppy died of a heart defect. She says she looks at the quilt every night before going to bed and it always reminds her of her puppy! Below is her kitty I included as well in the barn and the horse she used for lessons at the time is named Comet, so I placed that name on the horse trailer.

I hope you like my quilt, looking forward to hearing your comments!
